A Lusophone Friendship flag

Description

Inspired by this post.

Being a Lusophone myself, I think a flag sealing the Lusophone friendship would be a great idea. There is the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLC), but many countries don't participate of it for political reasons (like Macau), while others try to participate on it despite not being Lusophone, but Lusophile in some way (like Australia).

The inspiration to the design comes from the history of Portuguese Empire. The quinas (blue shields with five bezants [white roundels] in saltire) has been used in Portuguese national coats of arms at least since XIV century, while earlier variants being used since XI century. Since then, it never disappeared from Portuguese flags and coat of arms. The red cross comes from the banner of the military Order of Christ, used, specially in Renaissance, in Portuguese ship travels. The waves on background refers to the fact that the King of Portugal was title Lord "d'aquém and d'além mar" (of this and the other side of the sea). Blue and white are, traditionally, the Portuguese national colors.
